Yesterday I started to talk about [tag]how to get a quick divorce in Montego Bay Jamaica[/tag] or in Tennessee, how to get a quick and easy divorce in Oklahoma or a fast divorce in Nevada or Az… but got a trifle sidetracked by the bigamy issue. So, back on target!

The idea of minimising the pain, suffering and cost in any breakup is positive. The fact that the Internet can aid in that process means that speed and separation can be added to the mix, which is also positive.

What some people find negative is the idea of a ‘quickie divorce’ – a whistle-stop visit to Mexico to annul the excesses of a substance-fuelled marriage a week or so prior.

But going back to the original story that prompted this whole exploration, when I tracked down the company involved, they claimed to have been arranging quick divorces in the Caribbean and other places for over 40 years. The author said her experience was over 10 years ago, so if the company or the legality of the process were shonky it’s doubtful they’d still be in business.

Some States and jurisdictions have shorter divorce processing times than others, and that’s an attraction. Most couples, once they’ve decided to split, prefer to tidy the legalities as rapidly and cleanly as possible.

For that reason, do it yourself quick divorce kits and services generally accept only uncomplicated splits, most preferring cases where there are no children involved.

Interestingly, quick divorces in the UK, Scotland and Wales are very well catered for on the Internet. Various services offer do it yourself kits for 40 pounds – ‘save 500 pounds by avoiding lawyers’ – or more traditional law firms offer a ‘free first 30 minutes’.

One I liked, though, offers ‘email surgery’ as part of the package. Apparently the most popular inquiry is “how much am I entitled to financially”.

Yet most of the searches from people wanting information about how to get a quick divorce or fast divorces want to know about services in Jamaica, Mexico and various US States.

There’s an imbalance – opportunity – there somewhere!
