Country singer Keith Urban and actress Nicole Kidman owe their marriage to a decision. Do you face a similar decision? And could it [tag]save your marriage[/tag]?

Earlier this year Urban spent 90 days at the Betty Ford clinic in Palm Springs, California, to treat alcoholism.

Had he not recognised that “a lot of small things were… making my life unmanageable” and sought help, his future looked bleak.

“My wife was away. She hadn’t really been away before, and it came as a shock to me to be alone and not prepared for it – alone with this thing that I had, this big monkey on my back.

“I realized, ‘This is the crossroads of my life. If I want a life, this is the time to take charge,’ he said in a video posted on his web site soon after his release from rehab.

“There was no big, cataclysmic event that happened right before I went in. But thirty days became 60, 60 days became 90, and, with each week that passed, I found myself really learning to surrender.”

The 39-year-old said he is pleased he sought treatment because it dramatically strengthened his marriage to his wife of one year, Kidman.

“There’s no doubt that what it’s done for our marriage has been truly divine. It has brought my wife and me to a place that may never have happened for us.”

Is there anything within you and your marriage that you could be taking charge of?
